Why I Started
I came up with the concept of Bag Drop after founding a Garden Club at my high school and talking to my Mom, who works with disadvantaged families. I created the concept of Food Boxes, where we got donations and handmade boxes from our shop teacher and delivered them with food to families in need at my school.
A huge issue people are facing in the U.S. is transportation. It is common that people may have money to buy food but lack transportation or lack extra money to have their groceries delivered. Or they have access to transportation but can’t afford their specific needs.
Additionally, food stamp and food bank restrictions hurt families with specific dietary needs/restrictions, preventing them from getting the food they need. Families who may have a disabled family member, a family member with allergies, dietary restrictions, and/or severe picky eating may have to go without—and that is wrong.
My goal is not only to ensure no one goes hungry, but to ensure everyone is satisfied.
